Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion

'R' is a zombie. He has no name, no memories and no pulse, but he has dreams. He is a little different from his fellow Dead.

Amongst the ruins of an abandoned city, R meets a girl. Her name is Julie and she is the opposite of everything he knows - warm and bright and very much alive, she is a blast of colour in a dreary grey landscape. For reasons he can't understand, R chooses to save Julie instead of eating her, and a tense yet strangely tender relationship begins.

This has never happened before. It breaks the rules and defies logic, but R is no longer content with life in the grave. He wants to breathe again, he wants to live, and Julie wants to help him. But their grim, rotting world won't be changed without a fight... (From GoodReads)

THE FAERYS VIEW:

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion was incredibly entertaining and a wonderful yet a bit disturbing romance! R is amazing and I fell in love with him myself despite his somewhat rotting body.

R is a zombie who becomes disillusioned with his life when he feeds off the brain of Perry, the boyfriend of Julie. R gets memories from others brains and from Perry's he gets feelings of love for Julie. R goes from brain eating zombie to feeling protective over Julie. He begins a friendship that soon blossoms into something more.

This is a story that had both sadness and a great amount of humor in it. R lives in a jet and listens to Frank Sinatra while Julie lives in a futuristic stadium that is devoid of all joy and hope. Her life is that of zombies and survival. When she meets R under less than favorable circumstances what ensues is a remarkable story of unlikely romance and magical changes that give hope to all that are affected.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, I’ll have to wait for it to come out on pay-per-view but I hope it will be as good as the book. I read through it in less than 4 hours and enjoyed it tremendously. I think we all need a little hope in our lives no matter how fantastical it is! Great entertainment!

THE FAERY SAYS WARM BODIES IS A MUST READ!

  5. Hey YAY!! Does this mean you're home??? Feeling Good?

I read this one last year. I'm not a zombie fan, but this one was definitely different from your typical zombie book. I didn't see the movie. I enjoyed it. So glad you're reading again!!

  6. Still haven't read the book but I DID see the movie. Not a big zombie fan myself, but it was decent. I have of course heard the book is even better, with more focus on their struggles as opposed to the romance but I don't know...it might be one of those I have to leave the magic the way it is. We'll see. Enjoyed your review! Happy reading! ^_^
